Heartworm Prevention for Dogs

Most veterinarians will recommend giving a daily or monthly pill to prevent heartworms, but in actuality you’re not preventing them; you are administering the cure on a regular basis. This cure for heartworm is toxic. It contains a chemical insecticide. The chemicals are capable of causing disease. The dosage is much smaller than the actual treatment, but when it’s administered month after month, the toxic side-effects become a serious health risk.

The body works hard to eliminate the toxins and major organs, like the liver and kidneys, are taxed. For this reason, the pet’s body is not able to handle contact with the normal bacterial or viral substances in our world, so it gets sick more easily.

Part of the veterinary industry has acknowledged these dangers. These “alternative vets” are open to natural, safe and effective alternatives. Many of these vets believe that the long-term use of heartworm prevention drugs are a link in the chain of diseases such as arthritis, liver and kidney diseases, skin allergies, and many types of degenerative problems.

The cause of heartworms is mosquitoes.

For dogs, and cats, they can cause life-threatening problems because they transmit heart worms. These are parasites that enter the bloodstream as larvae and migrate to the heart. Six months after reaching the heart, the larvae turn into adults, and that’s when problems begin. Full-grown heartworms eventually fill the heart, blocking flow of blood to the lungs and doing damage to the heart. By the time you see symptoms, they’ve already done damage to the heart.

Mosquitoes still bite animals on heartworm pills. The key is to get the blood of the pet in a healthy enough condition that the mosquitoes won’t want it. Mosquitoes are a parasite. Herbs that have anti-parasitic properties will discourage not only mosquitoes, but fleas and ticks also. Geranium is an essential oil that repels mosquitoes, ticks and fleas and can be used on dogs.

Coming to Our Senses in Prevention

Looking at the real world of nature as an example, we see that parasites live only slightly at the expense of their hosts. It is only the weakest, or least fit, animals in a population who die of parasitic disease. And, if you think about it, doesn’t this make sense? If parasites killed all their hosts, where would they live?

So, the norm of parasite existence in nature is not to kill the host animal. Why, then, are we seeing dogs dying of heart worm disease? And why are cats now even being diagnosed with this canine parasite, and probably dying of it? What’s wrong with this picture?

Side Effects of chemicals

The chemicals used in most of these heartworm preventives can cause serious side effects like vomiting, diarrhea, weakness and convulsions even in the healthiest animals. These pills weaken your pet’s immune system which recognizes the chemicals as poison. It is not uncommon for pet owners to rush into veterinary offices confused about what is wrong with their pet. Here is the irony, when the veterinarians see these symptoms, they usually want to start your pet on a heartworm “preventive” medication thinking the symptoms may be heartworm, and they want to take precautions.

Thankfully, a portion of the veterinary industry has acknowledged these dangers. Known as “alternative vets” they are open to re-examining treatments for the safest and most effective “alternative.” Some actually recommend not giving your pet the chemical heartworm medication. And many of those alternative veterinarians believe that long term use of heartworm prevention is a link in the chain of diseases such as skin allergies, arthritis, liver and kidney diseases and many types of cancers.

If your pet is on a heartworm preventive, the mosquito’s will still bite them. True prevention would mean you have to get to the source of the problem, the biting mosquito.

HeartwormGuard is a liquid that is easy to use. Just put a few drops directly into your pet’s mouth. Reward your dog with a treat afterward to promote positive reinforcement. These herbs not only keep the mosquitoes away, but they also kill any worms or parasites that enter the body. So if a mosquito carrying heartworm does decide to bite your pet, the worms will die before they ever reach the heart.

Product Details

Our HeartwormGuard botanical formula is carefully harvested at its optimal potency. The botanicals are either cultivated without the use of chemicals, preservatives, herbicides, pesticides, fumigation and irradiation, or wildcrafted in their natural habitat. The (undried) fruit hulls of Juglans nigra trees are Custom Wild crafted in their natural habitat. To assure optimal extraction of Black Walnut’s bioactive compounds, the fruits are hand-harvested only in early autumn when their hulls are still green but are beginning to soften. The hulls are removed from the outside of the fruits and are then promptly extracted while still fresh and succulent.

Ingredients
Fresh, wild crafted Black walnut ( Juglans nigra) green outer hull.
Organic Grape Alcohol
Fresh Herb Strength: 1:1

HeartwormGuard comes in a one ounce bottle with an eye dropper cap, enough for 30 days or more depending on the size of the dog.

And remember, an animal with a healthy immune system will be less likely to become infected with internal parasites, including heartworm. Mosquitoes are less likely to bite healthy animals.
