Ground Flax Seed provides more nutritional benefits than do whole flax seeds.  That’s because flax seeds are very hard, making them difficult to crack, even with careful chewing, so if they are fed whole, they pass through the body whole and undigested.  Grinding flax seeds breaks them up, making them much easier to digest.  Then the goat can profit from all that flax seed goodness.

Whole flax seed comes with Nature’s own finest packaging – its natural hard hull that keeps it fresh, but once ground the meal will lose its strength if not kept refrigerated.  Flax seeds are time consuming to grind, and cool grinding with granite stones is the best way to retain the Omega 3 value of the whole seeds.  So, as you would expect from us, that is how we grind our Organic Ground Flax Seed!  We grind our product immediately prior to shipping to ensure maximum freshness when it reaches you.  Putting our Organic Ground Flax Seed in the fridge as soon as you receive it will preserve that freshness!

Our fresh Organic Ground Flax Seed for horses come in a 5 pound bulk package. 5 pounds is approximately 20 cups.
